Liposuction of Subcutaneous Tissue
There are several different methods of liposuction employed by our experts and a consultation will determine which is most suitable. The procedure normally takes between 30 minutes and two hours and can be performed under general anaesthetic or sedation.
It is a minimally invasive procedure with small incisions made in the target areas so the fat can be broken down by laser pulses or water pressure and then removed via vacuum machine. These areas are then manipulated and sculpted to promote natural contours to give the best aesthetic results. Liposuction is performed as day surgery and patients will need to rest and wear a surgical dressing for around a week, with the final result of the work evident after six to nine months.
Whilst liposuction cannot permanently improve cellulite dimpling or smother all surface irregularities, the fat removal involved in liposuction is permanent and the scars are minimal. Patients report high satisfaction rates with their new shapes, restoring confidence and promoting long-lasting health. The Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth has an enviable cohort of respected plastic and reconstructive consultants who are among the leading practitioners of advanced techniques.
